Hello everyone, It’s me again. The day we are going to explore Pembroke castle in West Wales. Ok fore, we start with a brief History, because of its prominent position on the Rock Akinga tidal inlet of the Pembroke River iRihas ver really good access downstream to the large natural harbour of MilfHavenaven because this site has been used since Roman times but it hasn’t until the invasion of wales by the normans in 1093 that a castle was constructed on the site a century after the castle after the castle was established richard the first gave the castle to William marshall, at the time he was one of the most powerful men in the country and he created the stone castle, much of which is what you still see today. Henry the Seventh, who inaugurated the Tudor line of monarchs, was born here in 1457. During the English Civil War, the castle was attacked by both the Royalists and the Roundheads. As the sympathies of the occupants changed over time in 1648 Oliver Cromwell himself led an attack on the castle well part of the outer wall was nearly 5 meters wide in place that’s nearly 16 feet thick just to mention the admission price was seven pounds for adults anyway Here’s The round tower is great to keep it’s 80 feet high and had a domed roof also at the top you can see those square holes they could build a wooden fighting platform so if there were been attacked they could build this fighting platform which looked out and was Directly above their attackers. This is what I love about Pembroke Castle Wogan Cavern. The castle sits on a natural cavern, which leads out to the excavations. They found some bronze age material and also some Roman coins let’s go down. Because of the closeness of the sea and ease of access to Milford Haven, Norman used Pembroke Castle as a base for their Irish Campaign, and you can still get to Ireland today from Pembroke on the ferry. So that was a trip to Pembroke Castle, a really interesting place and another reason to visit Wales.
